Great news to hear! And hopefully most people considering switching, won't read c/net reviews :D Their review on the new C2D Pro is a good laugh..a major con being that it doesn't have a media card reader,lol...

If you do get a chance to talk to her again, BE CREATIVE! Send her an instant message on iChat from across the store... save her from a masked man robbing the store at gun...., well you get the picture.
Lastly, Dont get to into detail in this post... there is a possibly she or one of her co-workers cruises the macrumors forums, and she could find this really creepy or really cool :D
I sincerely apologize if I have repeated anything that someone else has said
but I think its really cool that you reached out to a community that usually deals with computer questions. :D
How would one send an instant message across the store to another computer in the same store? I realize the whole to her portion would require her presence in front of a computer, I am just talking in general, unless you signed into both and sent it to yourself or something
I decided it didn't matter to go into detail in the post because it just doesn't matter. If she is on here, or a friend is on here, well fine and dandy, I hope she remembers who I am. If she is as smart as she was cute (building the points here in case she is reading ;) ) then she can go check the member photo directory and recall what I look like, I don't care. I would dare to say that if she finds this really creepy then she probably didn't read the entire thread, because after doing so she should realize that I am just shy and unknowing, not stalkerish and creepy (at least I hope not). Either way, if she realizes who this is and is interested, she can say hi next time....guys don't mind when women act too, at least I don't :)
As far as reaching out here, well who else would I ask?
Computers, personal finances, women, life goals, car help, it's all here....I think  :D

This is old news I have been trying for over a month and a half to look at iPhone prices on AT&T's website and have had the same thing.
Yeah I just realized that yesterday. Also I tried using a Long Island zip code and it still would not work. Apparenty they are blocking all of NY state.

I am actually afraid of this for Apple!
This is just going to give bad press, and get people to start to compare Apple to the RIAA with regards to lawsuits.
I understand Apple wanting to protect it's name, however they promoted podcasting , and do within many of their products, so trademarking it is just going to crush the little guys that recently started to support and like Apple.
I think this is a bad move, and worries me!

Rich bastard who deserves to be shot 300 times in the heart.. Yes, I hate rich people... I am glad many died in WWII and other wars.. at least they can't take their money which is worthless anyway to heaven.
Given your posting history in PRSI, I'm guessing you're glad that it was so many Jews who died in WWII? After all, they supposedly have all the money.

I've just had another thought, there might need to be a "Gaming" subcategory in "Software" which links to the "Gaming" category (if you understand what I mean). Thoughts?
Good idea.
EDIT: Maybe a Software category with iPhone Software, Mac Software and Gaming as subcategories would be better...

I've got the full 3GB that it'll recognize. I'm mostly concerned about the old video card.
The person who asked you how much ram you meant was referring to your video card ram not your system ram. I think that that GPU only has 128MBs of VRAM but am not 100% sure off the top of my head. but it is an older GPU you will probably have no problems running it on low but don't expect to run it on anything higher if your lucky you might be able to run at med settings depending on what res you run at. VRam is not as important as most people think it is. The processing power of the GPU itself is much more important.

It's a great Word alternative for those who don't need Excel and don't want to shell out several hundred bucks (MS Office) just to get something better than TextEdit.
At $80 for iWork and $150 for the student/teacher edition of Office, it's a bit harder to justify. Of course, if you get an academic discount, $50 for iWork is low enough that you might just pick up both. I'm waiting for Pages to become a more capable page layout app. I'm still a little worried that Apple won't stick with it.

The 320M is CUDA-capable. Intel is still evaluating OpenCL.
OpenCL was designed so software could use the processing power of the graphics card/chip to aid the CPU to perform calculations in a way that is not dependent on sending the results to video. In gaming, however, the CPU is enough to run the back-end of the game and the GPU is mainly used to display the image rather than help the CPU in processing the game's engine. Hence OpenCL should not make that much different (perhaps a few FPS but not so much as to make the 3000 better than the 320).
Is OpenCL akin to NVIDIA's PhysX as well as their CUDA? If so then perhaps it can help with the physics engines in some high end games (GTA IV etc comes to mind) I guess?
nice and the new MBA version of the HD IGP will be even lower clocked and the slower processor will only make it worse
True on the lower-clocked graphics, but I'm pretty sure the i-series processors will easily beat the 09-era Core 2s.
The only way which the SB i-series+HD3000 will beat the C2D+320M on the gaming front (which I can think of) is if the game in question is CPU intensive.
No way I'd buy something that expensive with Intel HD 3000. If you need the CPU of a sandy bridge processor get a MBP. The current gen of MBA is such a better mix of CPU/GPU for what the device is meant for.
Agreed. (and not just because I'm a late 2010 Air owner too :p)

And Microsoft Windows Server ? really ? Is it successful because I have to install 30 of those to run a simple SSO db like AD whereas I can run eDirectory off of 3 Sun boxes and achieve the same results with about 100 times more objects in the directory ?
God, haven't used eDirectory in ages, especially so since Novell has been a bit volatile. Been using a Mixture of FreeIPA/Zimbra OSE/Zimbra Collaboration the last couple of years, much faster and cheaper than a Microsoft stack.
So yes, Microsoft server is so successful because its just the best.
They have literally held the industry back all through the 90s and early 00s, something we're just now breaking free of. Just for that, I would never lend them my expertise no matter the offer. It is an ethical and moral choice, not one based on some crazy love for one brand of products.
Don't forget the the near-brainwashing of Techs and Admins, keeping most businesses and service providers out of plain ignorance.

I've driven through Valle Crucis (http://www.vallecrucis.com/) a couple times, but never stayed. It's a gorgeous, isolated N.C. mountain town. May be farther than you're willing to drive, though--I'd guess about 8 hours from Maryland.

Pour all their R&D into technologies that don't even exist yet, while continuing to throw up excuses for why they can't include technologies that do. Like Blu-Ray.
I recommend you listen to this interview (http://d8.allthingsd.com/20100607/steve-jobs-at-d8-the-full-uncut-interview/).
While this quote (http://www.ithinkdiff.com/steve-jobs-at-d8-videos-and-interview-transcript-9712/) doesn't specifically mention bluray, it seems like Apple is choosing not to "ride" Bluray into the future:
Apple has a history of doing that, Jobs says, noting that Apple was the first company to dump the floppy and later, to adopt USB. “Sometimes when we get rid of things, people call us crazy….But sometimes you just have to pick the things that are going to be the right horse to ride forward….And Flash has had it’s day…but HTML5 is starting emerge….The video looks better and it works better and you don’t need a plug-in to run it. And while 75 percent of the video on the Web may be available in Flash, a lot of it is available in HTML5 as well.”

i really wonder: why not "made in america" or "made in europe"?
The manufacturing costs would escalate and Apple wouldn't profit nearly as much.
Boy I hope not. Unless they can get some cooler silicon off-board, giving up battery life for 12 FPS in Quake just isn't a good bargain for 97% of the market.
I hope they introduce that option. Then it would be up to the customer to pick integrated or dedicated graphics, depending on his[her] needs.
