I had this same issue, and decided that I didn't need to have the computers the same, since it was only certain files I'd really need the same. So I got dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com/) which has worked famously.
Had I needed more synced, I'd have gone with Chronosync (http://www.econtechnologies.com/pages/cs/chrono_overview.html), which has been reviewed pretty decently.

There was a study a bit ago that showed that complexity drastically reduced participation in altruistic activities, while simplicity -- especially exact instructions on how to participate -- drastically increased participation.
I think that's applies here. Using a Mac is so simple, generally speaking, that the folding@home pages seem obtuse in comparison. The pages are all ugly, and instructions are unclear, and files seem to be missing that instruction pages reference.
Well put, the instructions are way out of date, hard to follow for beginners and make references that are no longer valid.
To increase participation I recommend that a very clear communicator make a new thread (perhaps a sticky) with *dead simple* step by step instructions w/screenshots on how to install and turn it on (circa 2010). Maybe even a screen flow that just shows exactly how to it, hosted on a service with crystal clear video like vimeo.com. Get our mirror neurons goin', yaknow?
Case in point, I'm having my own issues. Where exactly is the screen saver? On http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/OSX/OSX.html, it talks about it, and say to grab it off the download page, but I just can't find it. Makes me feel dumb, which is hardly what you want in a social endeavor.
As far as the screen saver, it no longer exists, which is why you can't find it. Sometime in the past it was deemed detrimental to folding because it was using up valuble resources the could be used for folding. And we all go through a 'feeling dumb' stage after which you go through an 'oh well I'll do the best I can' stage, which lasts as long as you continue to fold.
Beyond my notebooks, I also have 2 8 Core Mac Pro's I'd like to put into the game, but I really only want the processor power being used when they're idle. I need that power to myself at the other times. Screen saver or idle time processing is perfect.

The clients are supposed to ease up as other process use more cpu power but I have read where this doesn't always seem to work as for someone using video software etc. I suppose you could try and see if it works for you and if not... Nope, no catch. I just called the store down the street from me and it is $299 no catch for the 16gb. She did mention some service plan but said I just wanted the iPad and she said that is fine.

There's not only the contrast between the bright flowers and the dark background, which is what I noticed first, but there's also the contrast between the front and the back of the flowers and thirdly red and green are on opposite sides of the colour wheel. Well done JD!

seriously just shut ur pretty faces with the tired backlit keyboard anthem. this is like the least desirable feature esp since it has a direct impact on battery life.

On the first day of sales, I went to our local Mall. The Apple Store line was absurd,,,,100 yards. The AT&T line was about 50 people long. The Verizon store was literally empty. I don't trust surveys. The hard numbers will come out shortly.

Good points. Apple are doing great, but the lack of dedicated graphics in consumer-priced Macs aimed at switchers & students, many of whom will already own PC games, is an oversight. Otherwise, Apple's marketshare could be far higher.
Also, as 0010101 posted earlier, there'll be huge numbers of people holding back from buying PCs due to Vista's delay. Let's see if Apple can repeat their current success next year, when millions of PCs pre-loaded with Vista hit the shops. IMO, without significant upgrades to consumer-priced Macs, Apple's marketshare is unlikely to continue growing beyond the busy pre-Xmas retail season.

However in my experience, fewer people are waiting on Vista for a new machine than you may think. I'm really surprised at how little buzz Vista is getting. I've got several friends with HIGH END hardware running Vista beta now, and the all think it works great except for Aero, which to a person they have all turned off. Every single one of them complains about the speed, but say it is very solid crash-wise, especially for a beta. But when I press them if they will actually buy Vista the day it comes out, all but one said no. The main reason is that there is just nothing all that compelling there. And what with significant evidence (http://media.grc.com/sn/SN-051.mp3) that they have completely re-written their networking stack, I think I'll be with them on the sidelines waiting for a while until they work the bugs out.
So at least in my limited experience, people who need new hardware are buying it now - and not really waiting for Vista, which may be 9-12 months off for them anyway. What this means to me is that Apple's marketshare increases can be written off as an anomaly all that easily.

Can't believe aperture doesn't support more RAW types yet.
Until it supports more/all of the raw types, it will never be a real 'pro' application imho
I'm using it for my JPEG stuff but I do wish it would support the RAW files from my Fuji S3 :(

If true, this is bad...Apple needs to get people who make movies on board, with pressure from Walmart and Target, movies companys might not come over as quickly, and they really are selling well from what Disney says!

We use RFID chips in ID card for public transportation here in the Netherlands. I can't say it's the most efficient system but I can see the potential of having one set up in a device you carry with you all the time like an iPhone.
Interesting to hear you say that -- I use the Oyster RFID card for public transport here in London, and it's incredibly efficient. Compared to paper tickets, it's faster to use, faster to pay for, and much more durable.
Would be great to have this built into my iPhone...

Somehow I was expecting to see a lot more praise and excitement for the 3DS after it launched....
The 3D effect seems to trigger mixed reactions. Other than that...there really doesn't seem to be anything truly exciting about it? I don't see any "wow, those graphics!!" or "holy cow, this thing is fast/powerful" type comments.
The general vibe I am getting from here and other places is more like "pretty neat", rather than "wow, so awesome". :confused:
I bought my 3DS for Zelda, so as it's not out yet. It's just what it is.
The original DS wasn't exactly a WOW factor at launch and for many -- especially the press -- it was considered a complete joke as they praised the PSP. Its launch line up was worse than the 3DS, but years later its games and sales speak for itself.
Anyways, the 3DS just needs titles. It's a solid portable gaming system with no shortage of GREAT DS games to play on it until 3DS titles start to role in.

it loads the webmail interface but i can't click on anything. that means the links are recognized by the cursor but nothing happens. it says error in page. so no webmail for me anymore. $99 for that? i want my old webmail back!
You can still access the old webmail, look in the help section.
One thing I noticed is it doesn't seem to auto check like gmail?
