i doubt apple with update the MB soon, there just wouldnt be enough distinguishing the MB from the MBP if they both got C2D at the same time, mostl ikely it will be like the mini, it will get a small speed bump.

I have a DS that I am interested in selling but I am not interested in that PC.
Is there anything you are interested in trading for?

I'm not a photographer, so I don't understand the significance of this update, but I was surprised to see all of these integration improvements. Is integrating with Flickr or your iPod or keynote that useful to a pro? I'd have though these were things more of interest to an average Mac user trying to show off his vacation/baby photos.
Are you pros interested in these things? Or maybe Apple is trying to get the serious amateur interested in Aperture?
There are tons of serious amateurs using or interested in Aperture. Or Lightroom. This would be an excellent feature for me. (if I could use the program, see above)
The worst "feature" of Aperture is the high computer requirements. It really is a resource hog for not much reason. LR is becoming very similar with far less system specs.

Update away. Those of you running illegal copies of the WWDC (torrent) will be happy to know that your IP and other system/contact info is automatically logged and forwarded to Apple Legal by the Leopard Software Update.
"Enjoyed the preview? Good. We'll be contacting you soon..."
yeah, it would only cost them $1000+ to have someone come round to my house and do something about it, well worth the 59 they would sell the end product for
do they check everybodys IP, how do they know i wasn't at wwdc.

I'll take my own definition over Apple's or yours. Seriously, the phone is damn good looking, but you'll take Apple's opinion over your on?

... in an MBA form factor.
Yes I agree, because having that function in a MBP like in that video raises the question if its worth sacrificing the portability of the air for.

I hate the fact Pages always defaults to US English spelling. There seems to be no permanent way to switch to UK English! Arrrgh. No offence to Americans, but there are other people in the world.

ok, if you can spend about $1,100 US dollars then i'd go for an i7 930 system. that way it's plenty upgradeable and depending on the motherboard, you can add GPUs later.
do you plan to build yourself?
I did plan on building myself but I might get the store to do it for me. I have done HDD, GPUS, CD drives, Ram. I'm just have not done the CPU and I am affraid I will bend all the bits on it. Also all the cords that attach everywhere might confuse me, like power on button.
Would I need to overclock the 930 system, never done a thing like that before. Does it really add to the ppd, also I will be using the system myself so it will not fold 24/7.
Would a good GPU not be better then a Intel 930?

So a 17 year old can do it but a gigantic company with $50 billion lying there can't. Seems logical to me.
Wake up Steve. Seriously.
Think that one through, would you please?
Apple has much higher standards of quality than a 17 y.o. kid in NY. Apple has a reputation for not selling cheap/broken/imperfect shiet. Not only does Apple have that reputation, I bet you it is written down.
So yeah, it seems perfectly logical. For $50 I'll take a can of spray paint to your iphone. Now I can do it cheaper than a 50 billion dollar company, and some kid in NY! I must be amazing!

Runs perfectly with high (not ultra) settings at 2560x1440 on my i7 iMac.
I'm kind of disappointed that the most powerful non-professional mac computer (ie. not Mac Pro) right now can't handle the Ultra setting at native resolution on a game that is known to be not be very graphic intensive. Lowering the resolution for me is unacceptable as it really degrades the quality of the image.
The best gpu you can get on an imac right now is the ATI mobility 4850... and only the 512 MB version to boot. ATI has had a full line of 5XXX mobility cards out for a while now I kind of wish Apple would offer a current generation card as an option.
If Apple wants to get serious about gaming they need to fill the huge void in their product line. No one wants to pay $3K for a Mac Pro with Xeon processors and over priced generation-old graphics cards to run games slower than a cheaper PC. I don't really like the screen of the imac, the mac mini is way underpowered for games and so are all the laptops since they too have mobility gpus.
I'm just 'some guy' and maybe I don't have the "holy vision" of Apple but what I do know is that if they released a new machine in the Mac Pro case, with an i7 processor and current generation gpu I would buy it immediately. I can't be the only one that thinks this way.
As it stands, I'm either going to build a hackintosh or just stay with Windows.

web applications that don't require install of real programs, then I'll grant "mac-users" that one.
How is a web application not a real program ? It's written in a programming language, it executes instructions based on how the code is compiled/interpreted, and it displays results by processing some user input.
Sounds like a real program to me.
Anyway, "installing" a computer program or application is savvy ? Then what does it mean when you compile your applications straight from the source code ? Better yet, write them yourself ?
Considering that nearly all "Pro IT" overwhelmingly used Windows
Please, all the guys who are any good at IT are Unix users. "Windows" sysadmins suck. It's a dirty secret and don't tell my boss : I probably know more about Windows than they do. I just don't want to work with it.
not to mention that "gamers" are one of the most comptuer-savvy consumers
Laughable. Gamers are good at one thing : Buying parts and jamming them together. It's not like they even come close to understanding what is meant by sub-pixel tessellation and what that means on their screens (or even what a sub-pixel is).

You know, I often see this posted on the forums, yet I can't think of any example in the past that proves it. Every version after a .9 that I know of has been the last of that series.
Cheetah - 10.0.3 (I think)
Puma - 10.1.5 (I think)
Jaguar: 10.2.7
Panther: 10.3.9
Tiger: 10.4...:D

I agree that both OS's are good and in many cases a less expensive baseline Windows PC can adequately meet the needs of most users.
But this line of advertising really misses the mark with me. As someone else said ,it's like comparing a Rolls-Royce and a Subaru. Both are "cars" with engines, and tires and a steering wheel but are not really the same at all. Microsoft simply throwing up a few PC's that are near the spec's of a Mac, really does not tell the whole story.
Besides shouldn't HP, Gateway, Acer or Dell be running this add about HARDWARE and not Microsoft?

Kinect is more for the kids. They really enjoy Wii Sports so if there's an alternative (or blatant clone) with decent graphics for Move or Kinect, they'll be happy. It'll be interesting what 'Family' type games are released for both the new motion sensing systems. If you're going to wildly flail around the livingroom, you may as well do it in HD.
I personally just want a shiny black 360 to put under the livingroom telly. King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match (and maybe '02 UM?), Mark of the Wolves and both Virtual-ON Oratario Tangram and Force. Just need Hori to do another run of Twin Sticks...

Anyone even remotely thinking of voting for Trump should watch this video from last night's Anderson Cooper show. (Part 2 airs tonight Tuesday 4/26)
http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/26/video-trump-doubles-down-on-birtherism/
Or if you prefer to read about it instead:
http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/25/trump-claims-obama-birth-certificate-missing/
I used to somewhat respect this man. But the more he blathers on, the less I like or respect him. He doesn't sound that far removed from a carnival sideshow barker at this point. Definitely not Presidential material.
Wow there goes his whole campaign right there. His whole campaign was based on Obama's grandmother saying he was born in Kenya. This video says otherwise. I am loving all of this information.

Apple should've held out on the refresh to include USB 3 and even HDMI. Thunderbolt and the is currently useless.
agreed the apple store person was like you can transfer a 5GB movie in 10 seconds but I was like transfer to what? But there is a new LaCie hard drive coming in the summer :D but it would be great to have that sort of connectivity in the new iphone. It is also annoying that there is no 3.0?.....

1. its obvious you have never used android
2. the xoom is an excellent device. those stating they think that having a dedicated tablet OS is silly is kidding themselves. How can you consider yourself a "power user" and be tripped up by honeycomb? Seriously, can you only operate touch screens' with grids? I would would submit facebook has a tougher learning curve than honeycomb, but stop with the comments already, 2.2/2.3/3.0 are very well done OS's
Ever since Android was released on phones I have been hearing that it "is just a release or two away from being a great OS". The reality is that most Android devices are extremely lucky if they get one upgrade ported to them by their carrier. I'll stick with an iPad2 rather than buying something and hoping that it improves with time.
i love all the dig's at honeycomb tablets and how apple is superior haha
- Off angle viewing - Who really cares how good it looks? Who wants to watch an ipad and not have it in front of you?
- finish
- idiot proof (soft of)
- simple read: limited

I can see why they'd do it with a "new" program, but SE16 was my audio editing prog of choice even having to open OS9 to use it. Finally, soundstudio came around and went multi track, and although I like it, the bit view in SE16 was priceless for what I do, and that thing saved and opened files in a snap.
Even though it's new, I still had hoped that UBs would be the norm for new stuff for longer, especially from someone like Adobe. I got my G5 in mid 04 and had hoped to have it for 8 years. Looks like it'll be more like the 4 years I had ye olde G3 for. Maybe I can squeeze more out of it, but we'll see.
Whatever,
J
